The person who doesn’t love Brownies is sure to be a stone hearted one! Well, I am sure all brownie lovers out there are sure to agree to the statement. I mean who on the earth wouldn’t like to have a mouth full of crispy on top, gooey in the centre and spongy on the palate, chocolate brownies with the crunch of nuts.
While I am already drooling writing all this let us tell you some interesting fact about brownies which are less known and quite an exciting read for all the brownie lovers out there!
Stories On How Brownies Were Invented
There are many stories associated with the invention of the tasty delight. While some say (Story#1) that it was invented when a chef accidentally added melted chocolate to biscuit dough. Some say (Story#2) that it was invented when a cook forgot to add flour to the batter.
But somehow we find this one much convincing as it is the most popular one too (Story #3), a housewife once did not have baking powder and improvised with this new treat. It was said that she was baking for guests who were ladies and she had to prepare small sized cakes that were more chocolaty and fudgy.
What’s In The Name!
If you actually search for the term brownie in a dictionary you will get varied results, Where we know what it actually means ‘Square or bar of very rich chocolate cake usually with nuts’ the dictionary also tells that it was once a name of an Elf who appeared at night to help people. While some dictionaries pull its meaning as, fairies who were very naughty and mischievous.

With time Brownies have also undergone a lot of changes and transformation and now we get a huge number and variety of Brownies all over the world. Where the classic brownies were made of butter, sugar, chocolate, eggs and flour, a number of variations are now done with the ingredients to create a completely new version of the renowned and most loved delight. In the market and on the internet you will come across a number of recipes and variants of Brownies. Fudgy Brownie, cake-like brownie, chewy browny, sugarless brownies, rum brownies and the list goes on.
Did you know there is a Brownie Day too? Well, I also came across it on the internet while researching for the article. Every year on 8th of December, the day is celebrated!
